| Mark
E. Nugent, Senior Minister

Mark has been working in the United Methodist
Church since 1986. He has served many positions including
but not limited to youth minister, children's minister, student
pastor, and now Sr. Minister at Maple Avenue UMC. Before coming
to Maple Avenue, Mark was the Associate Director of Communications
for the North Georgia Conference of the UMC and spent 8 -
9 years developing electronic cutting edge communications
for the church worldwide. He graduated from Berry College
with a BS in 1991 and Emory University.with an M. Div in 1994.
He was Ordained Elder in 2001 and was appointed to Maple Avenue
in June of 2005.
Mark's wife Jane is the Sr. Pastor at Powers
Ferry UMC in Marietta. They have two children: Timothy, age
21 and Hannah, age 3. Mark enjoys his family time, restoring
muscle cars, biking, but most of all working for Maple Avenue
UMC.

Barry
Lancaster, Associate Minister

Barry was born in the little town of Swifton,
Arkansas and has been singing since he was 13 and sang with
a youth quartet called The New Home Singers. He attended college
on a music scholarship and served as president of the representative
singing group and of the college concert choir, and for 17 years
has been the tenor for the Peachland Quartet.
Barry won the southeastern regional male vocal
championship and placed 2nd in the national male vocalist championship
for the Regency talent search which was a preliminary tournament
for Star Search.
Barry moved to Georgia in 1984 and married Debbie Bishop, a
lifelong member of Maple Avenue U.M.C. in April, 1989. He became
Worship Leader/Song Leader, a part time position, of Maple Avenue
in 1991 and became full time Associate Minister/Music Director
in 2005. Debbie and Barry have three sons: Sam, Mitchell and
Joshua - all very active in the life of Maple Ave.

Sue
Sloane, Preschool Director
sue@mapleavenuechurch.org
Sue Sloane, majored in Early Childhood Education
at the University of Connecticut and has worked with children
for over 20 years. She was born in Key West, Florida, lived
in Connecticut through her college years and has lived in the
Atlanta area for 39 years. Sue and her husband Jeff, have 3
children of their own and 7 grandchildren. In 1997, Maple Ave
UMC hired Sue to develop a preschool program for the church
and community.

Lamar
Newton, Organist

Lamar became interested in music at the age
of three. His parents made sure he took piano and other music
lessons throughout his childhood. He accepted Christ at the
age of sixteen and began his music ministry as a pianist and
as an organist. He was also a member of the gospel group called
The Nelons. He and his wife Vicki were married at Maple Avenue
in 1984 and have been a music ministry team ever since.

Vicki
Newton, Pianist

Vicki began piano lessons at the age of
five. As a teenager she played piano, sang, and directed youth
choirs.

Daphne
Hurd , Administrative Assistant

Daphne graduated from the University of
Alabama with a degree in Human Services and is currently working
on her Master’s degree in Guidance and Academic Counseling.
She has been in the Methodist church since birth and currently
attends RUMC with her husband and two year old son. Daphne
is an avid volleyball and softball player and also enjoys
white water rafting and rock climbing. Her previous positions
included working at the United Methodist Center in the Bishop’s
Office as an assistant and with Trinity UMC as their Director
of Christian Recreation.
