MUSIC
MINISTRY
The
purpose of the Music Ministry of Maple Avenue United Methodist
Church is to raise up worshipping musicians and vocalists
of all ages to lead in the worship life of the congregation.
We offer our gifts as vocal and instrumental soloists, choral
and instrumental ensembles, visual artists and more. Many
voices are heard in the worship services ranging from visiting
gospel groups to partnering with area churches to enjoy an
enhanced combined service.
Using the words of our tradition, we sing hymns that have
sustained the church for centuries while incorporating the
voices of today’s composers and hymn-writers to speak
a new word to us.
Worship at Maple Avenue United
Methodist Church draws on traditions handed down by the church
through the ages. Music for the worship services reflects
these traditions as well as a deep southern gospel heritage,
drawing on composers from every age to speak of the rich foundation
upon which the contemporary church was built. Our music spans
centuries of composition and includes music ranging from the
best loved hymns and southern gospel favorites to the most
recent contemporary compositions available.
There is a place for everyone
in the life of the Music Ministry of Maple Avenue United Methodist
whether as a member of our choir or praise team, as an instrumentalist
or soloist or as member of the church’s largest choir
– the congregation.
